This publication, dedicated to the Light & Peace Museum, presents an examination of key dimensions of Islamic civilisation as expressed through its sustained engagement with diverse world cultures, from its formative origins to its contemporary manifestations.Within this context, the publication reflects the role of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in articulating the values of tolerance, openness, and coexistence that are deeply rooted in the United Arab Emirates as a land of peace and cultural encounter. A dedicated chapter is devoted to the three Grand Mosques that are considered the holiest sites in Islam—Al-Masjid Al-Haram in Makkah, Al-Masjid An-Nabawi in Madinah, and Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa—where the architectural beauty of each is examined as an expression of the breadth of Islamic values. This discussion is considered alongside the architectural language of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which brings together elements drawn from the three sacred sites.

The publication further presents a significant selection of Islamic artefacts spanning a wide range of forms and materials, which collectively attest to artistic

creativity and aesthetic refinement. The narrative also encompasses literary and intellectual works produced by Muslim thinkers across the centuries, highlighting their contributions to the enrichment of human civilisation through sustained interaction with other cultures and intellectual traditions. Among the most notable objects discussed are a belt from the Kiswah of the Holy Kaabah, as well as a group of personal belongings of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, including reading glasses, a walking cane, prayer beads, pens, and watches..
