The grandfather recounts how their ancestors relied on the stars to understand the seasons, navigate the land, and manage daily life. He focuses especially on the star Suhail (Canopus), highly regarded in Arab heritage, whose mid-August appearance signals the end of extreme summer heat and the beginning of seasonal change.The narrative explains how early communities divided the year into 36 seasonal cycles based on stellar movements and how this knowledge guided agriculture and travel across the desert.

By the story’s end, the children appreciate the depth of their ancestral wisdom, recognising that despite modern technology, traditional knowledge of the stars remains a vital part of Emirati identity and cultural heritage.
